I am an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor registered in California and trained in providing individual and group psychotherapy to clients of all ages and especially children. I currently hold a Master of Science in Clinical Psychology from Abilene Christian University (ACU). After graduation, I worked at an inpatient psychiatric hospital with individuals diagnosed with mental disorders such as depression, anxiety, trauma, suicidal ideation, self-harm behaviors, homicidal ideation, psychosis, and personality disorders. I conducted psycho-education and psychotherapy groups for adolescents and adults, teaching them anger management, mindfulness, emotion regulation, coping skills, and self-care.
During my time at ACU, I took the opportunity to hone my skills in research, therapy, and assessment. I was trained primarily in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) along with principles of motivational interviewing, Acceptance Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). In addition to providing counseling, I am trained in conducting psychological assessments to help clients attain a better understanding of their personal strengths, weaknesses, and unique traits. I had the opportunity to practice these skills in diverse settings, including university clinics, a state mental health center, and a private psychiatric facility.
My Christ-centered background and education places me in a unique position to understand and treat mental health issues without neglecting spiritual health. Both mental health and spiritual matters may be addressed in therapy by integrating psychology and Christianity.
